She Reads Truth Community!

Sometime in the last year I came across the SheReadsTruth community on Instagram, I think it was during their second plan.  This community has grown my love of studying the Word and has given me so many women in my life that are pouring truth into my heart.  Looking back on this year I couldn't be more grateful for where the Lord has brought our family though and the support that SRT has given me. SheReadsTruth tagline is "this time we're doing it together" and I couldn't be more grateful for that!

silence

It's been eerily quiet around here lately.
Our summer vacation kicked off and now struggle to find words.
Writing about my struggles with school is easy.
Talking about exhaustion is understandable.
Keeping up my journey to a half marathon is mundane.

But school is done.
I'm still exhausted.
Struggling.
Holding on.

Silence sets in.

Why is it that as humans we feel the need to do this alone?
To struggle in silence, not letting people know we need a hug or encouraging word.
This isn't the way that our Comforter intended it to be.

Through the pain in my heart I struggle to see the promise for me.
Sure, others are worthy of blessings and having their prayers be answered.
But me, why me?

So today, I am here admitting that I am struggling through motherhood, life as married college students, seeing how God would want to bless our undeserving family.  If I'm going to be honest, having a completely unnecessary pity party.  My God is mighty and just.  He sees our needs.  He hears our prayers.  And in this season of struggle and being completely humbled, I am holding onto Him, knowing that I am right where He wants me to be.  Struggling with my prideful and discontent heart.  And through tears I say thank you.

Being a Mom in College

Motherhood is hard. Being a mom in college is extra hard.
As I said, it's finals week around here.  My stress level has been through the roof.
Time has been limited. I don't get everything done that I want to do in the day.
But I sit here and say no.  No Satan, you will not over come me.
I will not feel like a bad mom because I need my daughter to sit and watch a movie while I do homework.

Today was an exception, most days I'm out with her playing, but just today I needed to not be.
Tomorrow we will go to the library and park.  We will play and laugh.
I will drink coffee and prepare for a late night study session.
Next week I will be on summer break, no homework, less stress.
In the fall I will probably have to have someone watch Addi once in a while, so I can do homework.
But next spring, I will be done.  My husband and I will both graduate.
We will enter into ministry and I will homeschool Addi (and whatever siblings we are blessed to add).

So today, I will extend myself a little grace to know that I'm doing the best that I can.
It's just a season in our life.  One that I want to look back on and remember the smiles.
I don't want Satan to ruin this season for me and just remember the tears.

Tonight I will rest in peace, cuddle a restless toddler and know that God is blessing us even in this season.

Sick Day

Yesterday as I was writing all sickness broke loose in our house, specifically all over Addi's bed and floor.

You know you're a mom when the words, "LUCKILY they just threw up ON me" leave your mouth.
Because that means you only have to clean yourself up instead of the bed and carpets. Perspective.
There was a lot pink medicine, scrubbing floors, washing sheets, and tummies being covered with "the bucket."

Even more cuddles with daddy, passing out in "the bucket" and sleeping on the couch.
But somewhere in between it all I had this moment of peace.

God knew I needed the reminder to slow down {honestly, I'm not sure how much slower I could get}.
To unplug from life, to just focus on that one little girl in my life that matters the most.
And I was grateful for unending cuddles, sleeping with her, and my husband who carried my load {baking cookies for a bake sale & getting some light food that she will hopefully be able to keep down}.

Tonight we are resting in the arms of our Father and holding tight to His promises.
We're grateful for the little reminders, even in the midst of lots of bodily fluid.

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
-Matthew 11:28
